The Vermont Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC) is pleased and gratified to announce that the MWPD employment enhancement changes have come to fruition. As of Jan. 1 st , 2018, the three expected changes to the MWPD program (as per the approved Medicaid State Plan amendments) became effective.
The Department of Disabilities, Aging and Independent Living (DAIL) and the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) formulated protocols for application that are now in effect. The SILC is further gratified that, after the MWPD employment enhancements have been in effect for more than one year, word has been received from AHS that the program has been operating successfully with all intent of the changes. The expected number of additional beneficiaries has been added. More people with disabilities are employed, able to accrue assets and living an independent, productive life!
